Basement in a Flash

An enormous crane pulls up to the edge of our hole. The ladder in the foreground is in our "piazza" (more on that later). Behind it is a semi-trailer full of basement walls.

In a single day, a crew of three lowers our basement walls in place.

Finishing up, they make sure it's square. Technically it's a "walk out basement" because we dug a hole for the piazza and the "canyon" to the left, which runs down to daylight.

Lookee, a basement! Ready for a crew to pour our basement floor. We carefully dug holes for footings below the posts that are to come. The plywood over the doorway keeps the dogs out.
